Artist, Illustrator and Surface Pattern Designer
I'm Viv, a Sydney-based artist with a passion for flowers. I create artwork and patterns for textiles, stationery and homewares in watercolour, using hand-drawn and digital techniques. My work is inspired by the beauty of flowers, plants and Australian flora and fauna.
I license my artwork and love to collaborate with companies both big and small. My style is hand illustrated, detailed and decorative, with a focus on colour, pattern and movement.
If you would like to chat with me about working together or licensing one of my designs, please don't hesitate to get in touch via email at hello@vivemmadesign.com
I'd love to hear from you!
All things floral
It may be a little obvious around here that I adore flowers!
For me, painting flowers is a way to celebrate and appreciate the beauty of nature and to express my love for the environment around me. From the fragrant aroma of summer jasmine, to the bursts of colour as the spring tulips open, flowers provide such a sensory and uplifting experience and are proven to increase happiness. I'm definitely in my happy place when strolling through a botanical garden or passing by a florist's shop.
Floral artworks are a wonderful way to bring nature into our homes, adorning our walls with gorgeousness for us to enjoy all year round.
I draw mostly from nature, often using photographs I have taken and sometimes I'll draw flowers from my imagination. There are no rules!
I use a mixture of ink fineliners, pencils, watercolour and gouache to illustrate with. I love the smoothness of hot-pressed watercolour paper for drawing details with fineliners or coloured pencils, but often use cold-pressed paper if I'm using watercolour alone as the texture is wonderful. Take a look at my portfolio to see a selection of my recent work.

Discovering surface pattern design was a real breakthrough moment in my artistic journey. The realisation that my art could be used on textiles, home furnishings and stationery was so exciting! I love creating patterns, it's almost like putting together a tricky jigsaw puzzle, but the end result is super satisfying and it's so rewarding to see a design that you spent many hours creating on a product out in the world.
I'm delighted to now be offering fine art quality prints of my work. My designs are professionally printed on 100% cotton museum grade 310gsm artist's paper using archival vivid pigment inks. These gorgeous giclée art prints will add a beautiful touch to any home.
